This informal settlement is nestled in the pathway of the Lanseria airport runway. The poor see planes take off and land everyday and wonder where the people are flying to and those in the planes must surely wonder what goes on down below. Such is the contrast in our society, between the haves and have-nots that I would not be surprised that the informal settlers no longer take much notice of the passing planes and that the travellers in the planes no longer take note of the informal settlement below.
Perhaps some day, as Vonnegut observes above, we will have a society that equal, this may not happen in our life time, but we must have hope that, that day will come.
